Fire Design Fire Extinguishers

FireDesign1_rect540-1

Look, cool type on a fire extinguisher. What’s not to like? So far they are only being sold in two stores in Paris: Cadeau Store and Boutique Fire. Let’s hope they make it across the Atlantic soon.

I'll start a fire just to be able to use one of these. I want them all.

“White Rhinoceros”

Designed by Vadim Kibardin this design called “White Rhinoceros” ( very suggestive and clever name) is a ceramic tile with a hook, that is just awesome for any bathroom. It would be a pain in the neck to retrofit, but cool as heck if you were about to re-tile your bathroom or kitchen. Right now Vadim Kibardin is looking to get this design manufactured, so it’s not available yet. – Via – Core77

Get ready, go...

What a morning! We started of with a hearty breakfast at the SA Police Barracks, in Paarl. Scripture and prayer by Pastor Ettienne Marais. The always funny Attie Laubscher welcomed and introduced everybody, and when I say everybody, I mean everybody by name, in his own very special way. If you need a good laugh or just need a bit of TLC Attie will put you in the best mood you can hope for.

All the sponsors, Metropolitan, Rola Group, Radio Tygerberg, Die Burger and the Mayor of Paarl thanked and wished the boaties the best of luck and reminded them of the objective, raise money for the Cancer Association of South Africa.

After the breakfast we all proceeded to the Norther side of the Mark Street Bridge where the boats were prepared, the crew  made their last adjustments and then the very strong matric boys from Paarl Boys high carried all the boats down to the river. Eight-year-old Antwan van Wyk and friend who took part in the first 30km of the race release the Doves. This was followed by a wreath laying ceremony by Retief Krige and Leana Matthee.

The engines roared and the boats departed with cheers from the crowd, and go they did, with a bit of a slight hick-up where team Tygerberg Radio had to hastily replace the prop. What happened to Danie Niehaus & Jan Koekemoer, we'll have to fill you in when we get the news. Lets just say, they didn't exactly get going with the other boats. But word is they caught up in no time.

BREAKING NEWS 1: All the boats and crew arrived safely at Zonquasdrift and they are now on their way to the Gouda Hotel, where they will have the first dinner and auction of the journey.

BREAKING NEWS: 2: I don't know if he would be to happy with me for telling you this, but apparently Attie (this is his 19th year) flipped his duck, nobody was hurt, and the got on their way again in mere minutes.

Elle Decoration South Africa

Bottle Cap Baroque

Artist  Rick Ladd makes items of furniture with the help of a local bar: he uses hundreds and hundreds of discarded bottletops to build up these fantastically sculptural pieces.

This is what Ladd says about his work: “I have found inspiration in many things, including folk and outsider art, grottos and sculptural environments, and Burmese temples. I am drawn to forms that I would describe as obsessive, accumulative, whimsical, and overly ornamental”.

You like this? Now take a look at a whole restaurant in bottle tops!

This is so funky!
